HTMA Profile 2 Multi-Element Assay (Initial)

PLEASE NOTE: If you previously ordered a test with another Practitioner, and you still want to keep the same lab number and previous result comparisons, you must complete and submit the Patient Health Information Release when you mail in your hair sample.

A Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA) uses a sample of hair to test minerals and detect imbalances in the body. Hair is an excellent source for testing the body's minerals due to its formation process. Specialized cells that make up the hair follicle form into clusters to produce hair. Hair is exposed to the body's internal environment as it grows, coming into contact with blood, extra-cellular fluids, and lymph. When the hair grows enough to reach the skin's surface, the outer layers harden and lock in the metabolic products that were accumulated during the growth phase. This biological development gives us a blueprint and record of the body's mineral status, and nutritional metabolic activity that occurred during formation.

The analytical method used with a Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis is a very precise and sophisticated technique that allows us to uncover the body's mineral imbalances, deficiencies, and excesses. This is so important since minerals are essential to live. They are crucial for anti-oxidant and endocrine activity, cellular metabolism, DNA function, enzyme function, immune function, muscular activity, nerve condition, structural support, and water and acid/alkaline balance.

Please note that these laboratory test results and the comprehensive report are not considered diagnostic. The analysis is only provided as an additional source of information to the attending doctor.

There are many factors, including diet, stress, environmental elements, that can contribute to the imbalanced mineral levels and toxic metals found on a Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis.  The analytical process enables us to determine the proper supplement, diet, and lifestyle recommendations that can help the body balance and reach optimal health.

What is a Profile 2?

The Profile 2 Hair Analysis is for new patients who are not yet on a Body Mineral Balancing program, or returning customers who did not purchase a retest in a significant amount of time (retests are recommended every three months). The purchase comes with downloadable files in the emailed Invoice that contain an order form and the scale needed to weigh a hair sample to send to the lab. Click here to learn how to properly cut a hair sample for testing.

The elements tested in a Profile 2 include Calcium, Magnesium, Sodium, Potassium, Copper, Zinc, Phosphorus, Iron, Manganese, Chromium, Selenium, Boron, Cobalt, Germanium, Molybdenum, Sulfur, Uranium, Arsenic, Beryllium, Mercury, Cadmium, Lead, Aluminum, Barium, Bismuth, Rubidium, Lithium, Nickel, Platinum, Thallium, Vanadium, Strontium, Tin, Titanium, Tungsten and Zirconium.

The purchase of this test comes with a full interpretation report, which includes:

  • Graphic illustration of mineral levels and ratios
  • Individualized evaluation and discussion of metabolic type, mineral levels and ratios, and the impact on body chemistry
  • Food recommendations with an explanation for each that is suggested
  • Supplement recommendations based on age, sex, metabolic type, mineral patterns, and any other needs specific to the individual

Please note the results of this test will be delivered by email only.
